When I was 10 I was told then in the back of my eye just a layer under the macula was damaged. This mean's I'm blind.
Maybe I should tell you the full story.
From 20/20 vision to 10/10 vision
During the summer of 2005, I was at school next to a window. I had my left hand over my left eye and my right hand under my chin slouching over the table. After a couple of minutes I was looking at the teacher while she was talking I was in the same position....Everything Went black in my right eye? Why? What's going on? Immediately I took my left hand of my left eye and looked through my right eye. After a couple of seconds it went back to normal but, a black little patch was left in my right eye. Now I was panicking. I told my mum when I got home and she said "If there's a problem I'm sure it will show up on your eye test coming soon". I wear glasses for reading. 1 month later, I went for the eye test and I was beginning to shake. To look at the back of my eye the lady uses a torch. Then she kept going over and over my right eye and less on my left. I knew there was something not right. "Have you had trouble seeing through your right eye" she asked. "Y-yeah" I stuttered. "There appears to be a tiny hole. Usually in cases like this its called A Macula Hole or Macula Degeneration" She explained. Then she told my mum to go to the doctors and arrange appointment to go to the Eye Unit at Wigan infirmary (A Hospital) soon as possible. Gradually over the months the black patch I could see was increasing in size. When I went to the Hospital first they talked about my and and asked me questions. Then they put in these eye drops witched stung for a few seconds. The purpose of it was to Dilate (enlarge) my pupils. Then after 20mins I sat on this chair and rested my chin on the machine with a bright light. It was so they could see my retina. Nothing was found. So then he asked for a second opinion witch simply means for me to go back so they can take a look again. When I went back couple months later another doctor looked at my eye. Then he saw a hole. He told me to wait there while he got the other eye doctor only he was a professional. 2mins later a couple of them came in all asking me questions and took a look. Then they told me to go to the Royal Eye Hospital in ,Manchester.
It finally came to 2006, when I went
to the Royal Eye Hospital and things wasn't getting any better or worse, in fact
it seemed to settle. Again, they dilated my eyes and told me to wait 20mins.
Once again I went to the doctors room with another doctor. He asked me what I
could see etc. He looked through my eye then took some pictures of my retina.
They looked like the ones below. Note: It isn't my retina just a example. Then he
took another type
and told me to wait in the waiting room. 10mins later called me back into the room. And discussed the situation. He said he had never come across such a healthy child at my age with Macula Hole for about a couple of years and told me he would email some other hospital to see if they had a idea. Also other symptoms are Black smudge, sensitive to light (painful in light) and gets worse at night.
About 1-2months later I went back to Manchester, Royal Eye Hospital. First I went for another Eye Test there ( I got 6/12) and then went to the waiting room. Later on he called me in and told me he wanted to look at my eye again. I started to get all panicky and shaky again. Then he said " This might not be a macula hole. Tell me what happened again". I told him about being near the window . "I'm afraid I got bad news". "W-what". "Erm..I looks like this damage is the type of damage that is caused by the sun." I knew it all along. " Come Back in about 6 months... "
